Free invoice generator for India (GST)
GST invoices in rupees on A4, with your GSTIN. Download the PDF with no signup and no watermark.
This free invoice generator is set up for Indian businesses: the tax column is GST, your GSTIN prints under your address, amounts are in rupees and the page is A4. It prints with the same template engine as invoices sent from paid ASHDOCS accounts, in any of 16 designs.
The real thing, free
The preview and the PDF come from the ASHDOCS invoicing engine: the same 16 designs, the same totals and tax maths, the same print renderer. No watermark, no email required.
Every field an invoice needs
Your business and logo, your client, invoice number, issue and due dates, line items with quantity, rate and tax, a discount, notes and payment terms.
Send it and track it
With a free account, email the invoice, share a hosted page with a Pay button, send reminders and see when it is viewed and paid. Your draft comes with you.
For developers: the same invoice from the API
POST /api/v1/invoices creates the invoice, gives it the next number in your sequence, prints it in the same design and can email it with a hosted payment page. This request makes an invoice like the one above.

How to make an invoice
Five steps, all on this page. The preview on the right updates as you type, and it is the same document the PDF prints.
- **1. Add your business.** Type your business name, email and address, and upload a logo if you have one.
- **2. Add your client.** Enter the client's name, email and address. These print in the Bill to block.
- **3. Set the number and dates.** Keep the suggested invoice number or type your own, then set the issue date and the due date.
- **4. Add line items.** Describe each product or service with a quantity, a rate and a tax percentage. Totals and tax are worked out for you.
- **5. Pick a design and download.** Choose one of 16 designs, check the live preview, then select Download PDF.
What a GST tax invoice must contain
Rule 46 of the CGST Rules, 2017 sets out what a tax invoice must show. The main particulars are:
- Your name, address and GSTIN.
- A consecutive serial number, unique for the financial year, and the date of issue.
- The recipient's name, address and GSTIN if they are registered.
- The HSN code for goods or the accounting code for services.
- A description, the quantity with its unit, the total value and the taxable value after any discount.
- The rate and amount of tax: central and State tax, or integrated tax.
- The place of supply with the State's name for inter-State supplies, and whether tax is payable on reverse charge.
- Your signature or digital signature.
GST invoices with the free invoice generator
Enter your GSTIN in the business section and the recipient's GSTIN in their address, and set the GST rate on each line. The generator prints each rate as its own row in the tax summary. In a free account, a saved tax rate can also be split into components such as CGST and SGST.
The form has no dedicated fields for the HSN or SAC code, the place of supply or a reverse-charge note: put the code in each line's description and the other two in the notes. Check the finished invoice against the current rules or with your adviser before you send it.
What the free invoice generator does, and what needs an account
Everything above is free with no signup: the form, the live preview and the PDF download, with no watermark and no email address asked for. You can make 20 free PDFs a day from one connection; previews never count towards that.
An account adds what happens after the PDF: sending the document by email, a hosted page your client can open, a payment link, reminders before and after the due date, and a record of when it was viewed and paid. The free plan includes 100 credits a month and needs no card. "Send it and track it" brings what you typed here into the new account as a draft, so you do not type it twice.
What happens to what you type
The details you enter are sent to ASHDOCS only to draw the preview and print the PDF, and they are not stored. To stop abuse of the free tool we keep a log of each PDF made, with the IP address, browser and file size, for 30 days. If you choose "Send it and track it", the document waits in your browser's local storage until you sign in, and is then saved to your account.
Frequently asked questions
Is this invoice generator really free?
Yes. Making an invoice, previewing it and downloading the PDF cost nothing, need no account and add no watermark. The limit is 20 PDFs a day from one connection.
Do I need an account?
No, not to make and download an invoice. You need a free account only to email it from ASHDOCS, add a payment link, send reminders or see when it was viewed and paid.
Can I add a payment link?
Yes, with a free account and a payment provider connected to it. Invoices you send then get a hosted page with a Pay button. "Send it and track it" carries this invoice into the account as a draft.
Does this make a valid GST tax invoice?
It prints the fields Rule 46 of the CGST Rules asks for that you fill in: your name, address and GSTIN, a serial number, the date, the recipient's details and GSTIN, a description, quantity, value, the GST rate and amount per line, and the total. Add the HSN or SAC code, the place of supply and any reverse-charge note in the line description or notes. Check your invoice against the rules or with your adviser.
Can I save invoices?
Download the PDF to keep it. To keep invoices online, number them in sequence and track payment, create a free account; "Send it and track it" saves this one there as a draft.
